New Delhi: RSS affiliate Swadeshi Jagran Manch says the Modi government should not fall into the “trap” by selling Air India and should instead explore options to revive the national carrier, including selling some of its ‘Maharaja’ assets.
This comes days after RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said Air India should not be sold to a foreign buyer.
The government has announced that it plans to disinvest its 76% stake in the national carrier, which has been making losses for the last few years. “The government should follow the equity route and not the strategic sale route it is exploring now,” Swadeshi Jagran Manch co-convenor Ashwani Mahajan told ET. “It should not fall into this trap (of selling off the airline) and focus instead on cleaning up its balance sheet.”
